Alright, I would like to make it clear that I am not certain that this is worth risking your models lives for.... however Hal's 'Flesh Love' series is one of my favourite collection of works of photography from 2012. I assume a multitude of safety precautions were taken prior and during the execution of this project.
Hal's 'Flesh Love' series depicts couples intertwined, then vacuum sealed in transparent plastic until the majority of their flesh or figure is indistinguishable from one another- a representation of the lovers connection, unifying them as one unit. Hal then swiftly takes the photograph before his models die. This method also provides a comment on the inherent nature of different aspects that can be present in love - sometimes emotional and spiritual suffocation, discomfort, pain and feelings of imprisonment.
The product of this concept is so beautiful. Hal's choice of brightly coloured backgrounds and costume to complement the mood of each piece are sublime.
