Today, I thought we'd explore the photography of Fong Qi Wei, one of the art world's brightest shining stars.
Fong Qi Wei is the perfect example of a photographer who uses his photoshopping skills to add an incredible new dimension to his work, compositing multiple images of the same location, captured over a period of hours or days. In some pieces, he quite literally seems to add another dimension to the worlds that he captures through his lens. Bougainvillea Sunset is the perfect example of beautiful composition brought to life with incredible compositing work --- it looks like you're peering into a wormhole; a new dimension (which is no coincidence, as this particular photo is part of Fong Qi Wei's 'Time is a Dimension' series of images.)
With artful slicing of his photographs, Fong Qi Wei brings a new depth to his photos, which capture moments of beauty in everyday life --- a rock at the shoreline in Bali, a skyscraper at sunset, a swan taking flight. It takes true talent and an adept feel for composition to capture the everyday in an artful manner. His work is a beautiful example of the successful implementation of the rule of thirds.
