Terry Richardson is a perfect example of the notion 'less is more'. Richardson captures what I would consider to be the design style of 2013-current. Successful creations that are of a similar style are the American Apparel advertising/general marketing campaigns and recent video clips such as 'Blurred Lines' by Robin Thicke (directed by Diane Martel), both very successful creations however I am not sure being associated to them is such a wonderful thing.

I consider 'Blurred Lines' to be one of the most repugnant statements that has weaselled its way into the Top40 in a long time. I honestly like Richardson's photography however due to association I feel really perplexed about some of the works. American Apparel's awkward soft porn style of marketing also seems to be present in Richardson's works.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with Richardson's work. The lighting is beautiful, the composition is always brilliant - I just don't think I am a fan of the style (perhaps due to external factors).

Richardson is pulling in some big name clients, models and is obviously making a lot of money doing exactly what he loves - so who am I to criticise?
