Christopher Morris did a collection of photographs in the 1980's of a variety of scenes within New York City subways. In this particular body of works he displays an unusual perspective. The subways are presented as asylum like prisons. I like the different context that Morris has chosen for his works. It is almost a social commentary of how insane daily life can be.

The carriages themselves are dark, dirty and there is writing (graffiti) all over the walls. It is exactly how you would assume the inside of a cell of a madhouse would look like. The dangerous tone is strong within the works and the subjects are almost always shown in moments of communication or deep thought.
