Ellen von Unwerth centres her work around the theme 'good girls gone bad' and there is usually a 'burlesque' type element to each image. Unwerth will get her girls to dress up and then play with the camera (and audience). This tease performance is driven by provocative expressions, poses, costumes and general glamour. I enjoy the unapologetic boldness that Unwerth's characters hold - it's nice to see these women depicted as unashamed or shy of their sensuality.
