Elliott Erwitt is such a great character. His infamous motto "...I am serious about not being serious" is displayed perfectly in so many of his images. Erwitt was a pioneer in photojournalism, however is most known for his witty yet modest style. Erwitt has left behind an extensive and broad legacy of images that continue to inspire me every time I revisit them.
My favourite Erwitt pieces would have to be his early photographs of Arnold Schwarzenegger in 1977. There is something really innocent about the light humour expressed in the images. The lighting seems very natural and so do the moments captured. It is very casual, taking Arnold Schwarzenegger out of the intense industry of body building, and putting him on display not as a marvel of physical accomplishment, but as a regular human.
