Shae DeTar is a brilliant artist who uses the time consuming practise of painting photography. This method was previously used prior to colour processing. As a result she has taken on the task of blurring the lines between what we consider to be a photograph and a painting. The results are gorgeous, giving a pretty vintage aspect to each piece.
I shamelessly love anything kitsch (a scene which DeTar could definitely fall into) but there is something very unique about her style. Her choice of models, poses and location are all very atmospheric - bringing back memories of early childhood dreaming, imagination and teenage charm.
I respect DeTar's obvious admiration of nature and women (or at least what they represent to her).
