Isabel Martinez' series 'Quantum Blink' depicts fractals of time and movement. The photographs are taken with two exposures, shot consecutively and very quickly. Apparently, Martienez shoots her scenes with in-camera masks, enabling her to keep the photographs from merging into one another. As you can see, this creates the perfectly balanced strips - allowing the viewer to see both pictures adequately enough, at the same time. This method expresses Martinez' interest in quantum mechanics and human consciousness in such an aesthetically charming way that as a viewer I can't help but also be curious about these topics and how they factor into what makes us human.
